Network Project

The MoES, New Delhi has sanctioned a Network Project on Marine Ecology and Biology (MEB) at Department of Life Sciences, MKBU on 10th November, 2014. The project entitled “Marine Coastal Ecology of West Coast of India” functions under two major themes – Marine Biodiversity and Marine Pollution with Dr. (Ms.) Bharti P Dave as the Project Coordinator. The financial outlay of the Network Project is Rs. 4,53,48,535/- (Rupees Four Crore, Fifty Three Lakh, Forty Eight Thousand, Five Hundred Thirty Five only)

 Scientific Steering Committee

The overall monitoring and periodic review of the progress of the ESTC proposals towards implementation as per objectives and timeline is done by a Scientific Steering Committee (SSC).  The SSC on Marine Ecology and Biology (SSC-MEB) as constituted by MoES, New Delhi comprises of the following members.

 The First Scientific Steering Committee Meeting

The First Meeting of the ESSO-MoES’s Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) on Marine Ecology & Biology (MEB), for Earth Science & Technology Cell (ESTC-MEB) was organized on 16-17 January, 2015 at Department of Life Sciences, MKBU, Bhavnagar. The meeting was presided by Prof H N Vaghela, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor MKBU. Members of the SSC – Prof Dileep Deobagkar, The Chairman, SSC – MEB, Dr. P A LokaBharathi, Member, SSC – MEB, Prof T. Balasubramaniam, Member SSC – MEB,  Dr. Jagvir Singh, Program Officer/Scientist, MoES, New Delhi and PIs/Co-PIs of all the projects remained present. The members of SSC evaluated the work plan of the projects presented by various PIs and suggested several recommendations which could lead to effective functioning of the projects with better deliverables.
